The Epiphany School of Global Studies, is guided by its Four Pillars of learning and community aiding its operational objectives that align with the pillars to ensure the success of the school not only now, but in years to come.
Our Board of Trustees is continually evaluating where The Epiphany School of Global Studies currently stands, and re-evaluating how the school can further improve in the future. This team of thoughtful leaders collaborates with the Headmaster, the Chaplain, the Director of Global Education, and the Principals of the Primary, Elementary, Middle, and Upper Schools to ensure the success of students at Epiphany.
The teachers at Epiphany are highly qualified in their respective fields, but what truly sets our faculty apart is how deeply they care about their students. Our teachers genuinely want each student to learn to the best of his or her ability, which leads to a positive and supportive environment that promotes rigorous academics.
Comprehensive Assessment of Progress for Students
While Epiphany does not “teach to the test,” it does offer standardized assessments at regular intervals, primarily to assure parents about the quality of the education the students are receiving. Of greater importance, however, are the detailed progress reports regularly completed by faculty for every student multiple times during the year. This kind of detailed feedback is necessary so that teachers, students, and their parents are able to measure progress throughout the year in a classroom setting. Our in-house Learning Specialists work with students with diagnosed difficulties throughout the year, and they bring students who may be struggling up to speed.
Diverse Learning Strategies
Students at The Epiphany School of Global Studies have unique access to diverse learning opportunities. They will engage in traditional classroom learning, group work, team learning, and independent study. They will also have access to both domestic and international travel experiences, field trips, lab work, language immersion programs, and sophisticated technology in the classroom. As we step into the future, these opportunities will grow and become more comprehensive so that every student will reap the benefits.
Continuing Evaluations in order to Monitor Progress
To ensure that we maintain our standards of excellence, every five years The Epiphany School of Global Studies undergoes a comprehensive review of our mission, our educational objectives, and our day-to-day practices as we develop a new Strategic Plan. Progress toward the goals outlined in the Strategic Plan are evaluated on a yearly basis by the Board of Trustees. The BOT conducts both a self-evaluation annually, as well as an evaluation of the Headmaster. The Headmaster annually evaluates other members of the administration, who further evaluate the faculty, ensuring that all employees understand not only the Four Pillars, but the goals and expectations outlined in the Strategic Plan. School surveys are also regularly offered to families, so they, too, can evaluate various aspects of the school experience.
Effective Fiscal Management by the Board of Trustees
Because the Board of Trustees believes that a quality education should be affordable to families, budget discipline is strongly emphasized at all levels of the school. Simultaneously, because the school receives no federal or state funding, the Board of Trustees, with fundraising efforts led by the Headmaster, actively seeks community support, solicits grants from appropriate foundations, engages in friend-raising, shares information about the school to potential donors, and has implemented a capital campaign.
