Epiphany's Spirit Squad and Upper School Choral Music class entertained hundreds of festival goers this weekend in downtown New Bern. Thanks to the Silver Lining Singers for joining our choir for the afternoon.

Please click here to register your students in grades 1-5 for Junior Spirit: https://forms.gle/XJ2TQGtqLPLfw2oi6. The group will practice Wednesdays 3:00-4:00p, November 8-February 14 (Specific days and performances will be available via BAND after registration).

Please note the change of location for the Spirit Squad at MumFest on Saturday. The new location is inside the O'marks Building at 233 Middle Street.

New Bern Fire-Rescue visited our Lower School to remind students about fire safety and prevention. Students watched an interactive puppet show and clown skit and played an online Kahoot! Game to review safety facts. Be sure to ask our students what they learned about fire safety!

Congratulations to The Epiphany School of Global Studies, which has been named a Platinum member of the 2023 AP School Honor Roll. Epiphany had 84% of their seniors take at least one AP exam during high school, 76% of their seniors scored a three or higher on at least one AP exam, and 32% of their seniors took five or more
AP exams. Learn more about Epiphany at www.epiphanyglobalschool.org.

A group of students spent one of their enrichment week days volunteering at Colonial Capital Humane Society's Flea Market. We moved furniture, sorted electronics, shelved books, and sorted clothing. Join them for their big sale on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. CCHS relies on donations and sales to keep their shelter open. They are located right across from the Trent Campus at 2302 Trent Road.

Our students love lending a helping hand at RCS! Special thanks to volunteer Cyndy Brougher for facilitating this fieldtrip today.

Epiphany families are invited to join us for a celebration of the International Day of Peace at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21, in the PAC on the Trent Campus. We will see performances from our Music and Drama programs and art created by our Visual Art students.

It was an honor and a pleasure to take an enthusiastic group of Epiphany Upper Schoolers to DPAC on Sunday night to see the musical "Wicked." Broadway definitely showed up in Durham! What an incredible show. We even got to meet some of the stars afterwards for pictures and autographs. We're already planning our next fieldtrip to DPAC.

Kindergarteners met their big Junior Buddies this week!

It was such a treat to welcome former Head of School Dr. Carlblom back this morning for our Chapel service! It was surprising to see him wearing a "visitor" sticker, so Mr. Wang had a permanent name tag made for him. We look forward to seeing him again very soon and very often!

Congratulations to Abby, a 10th-grader at Epiphany who just had a poem published in the book "Quilted Voices: A 2023 Anthology of Selected Poems." The contest was open to anyone 13 and older. This is what the publishers say about the book: "With a wonderful selection of poems written by some of today’s most talented amateur writers, each anthology contains poems that are funny, sad, religious, and profoundly unforgettable. Each publication encompasses a culturally diverse group of poets whose work has touched the hearts of readers far and wide. All publications are designed to capture the essence of today’s poetic genre."
Abby gave us permission to run her poem here. Enjoy!
Marine Life
When the sun comes out
I scream and shout
"Dad can we go catch trout"
We get the boat
with lines and rods
we feel the rain and grab a coat
When I'm putting up the cooler
closing the latch
"What types of fish will we catch"
"I'm not sure lets wait and see --
Oh my gosh what could that be"
There is a fin in the waves
I see it's a dolphin as my fear caves
The dolphins leap through the waves with grace and care
as I see magic fill the air
Through my eyes what beauty I see
how wonderful Marine Life can be!

Epiphany parents went back to school on Monday night! They experienced the 'speed round' version of their students' day, briefly sitting through each other their classes to see what will be expected them. We even opened the Epiphany Store and had our first customers. Thank you to everyone who came out!

Epiphany's senators and officers were inducted this morning during Chapel. The ceremony was paired with a wonderful lesson on leadership given by Mr. Seeger. We look forward to watching these students as their leadership abilities grow throughout the year.

We have a very special milestone to share - Epiphany has its first 'legacy' student. Andreas Suarez (class of '12) had lunch with his kindergartener today. He said he is so glad his daughter has a safe and loving place to attend school. We've also posted a picture of Andreas when he was a student here.

Service is one of the four key principles of our curriculum (Respect, Responsibility, Service and Integrity). Each school year begins with a whole school service day named "Day of Faith." Each advisory group on the Trent campus leaves the campus to work for various service and civic organizations around town. The Henderson campus classes choose a service that is often done on campus and delivered to service and civic organizations. Beginning the year this way emphasizes our commitment to serving the community as part of our identity as a school.
Here at Epiphany, we pride ourselves on our students' willingness to serve their community. We enjoy taking a day away from our regular routine to help those in need. Not only are we strengthening relationships within our community, but we are also teaching our students to be better people both inside and outside the classroom.

It was time to rise and shine this morning for the first day of school at Epiphany! New Head of School David Wang was one of the first ones on campus to do a live interview with WCTI Newschannel 12. We are so grateful that reporter Deja Mayfield was able to join us on both campuses to see how excited our students, teachers, and administrators are to return - from the youngest new falcons taking pictures with the bear for the first time all the way to our next senior class, which was recognized this morning at Gathering. Wishing for a wonderful start to the school year today for everyone! We're so glad to see our students return. Check out WCTI at noon and this evening to see more.

It's official! Join us in welcoming longtime Epiphany employee David Wang to his new role as Head of School. David has already given so much to Epiphany since it was founded in 2006. We look forward to continued growth and opportunities on the horizon with David at the helm. https://newbernlive.org/epiphany-announces-new-head-of-school%2C-david-wang-p3817-220.htm

Thank you, Epiphany PTO!!! We just received our bass drum for the Middle School concert band, and it's so exciting! We all took turns giving it a whack. Thank you for supporting our arts programs.

We love to see our students out helping others in the community on their summer break! Epiphany middle schoolers Emma, Elin, and Kate hosted a bake sale in Trent Woods to raise money for RCS. They sold homemade brownies, cake pops, cookies, muffins and popsicles — raising $529!
