Shark Campers are in full swing this week learning about a shark's anatomy, typical shark characteristics, and different types of sharks. We've played shark related games, sang shark songs, and gone shark tooth hunting! It's shark-tastic!

All of our teachers at Epiphany are exceptional, but two were recognized today with the Paideia Award. Paideia means "training of the physical and mental faculties in such a way as to produce a broad enlightened mature outlook harmoniously combined with maximum cultural development." On the Lower School campus, art teacher Liss Corona was recognized for the joy she brings to her art students, the hard work she put into creating a student news channel, the creative drama elective she taught in the Fall, and her commitment to the after school program. Choral Music/Concert Band/Music Theory teacher Mabel Rosney was given the prestigious award on the Trent Campus. Mabel created two new programs this year on top of continuously inspiring her singers. The growth of her brand new concert band was amazing to watch throughout the year - she even started a pep band! Thank you to Liss, Mabel, and all of our staff for working so hard this year.

Our third, fourth, and fifth graders really brought down the house at their Spring Concert. We were razzle-dazzled with ukes, recorders, percussive instruments, and beautiful voices. Thank you, Sr. Delima, for your hard work, and thanks to Epiphany parent and photographer Marisa McDonald for the photos.

Epiphany's LAM has arrived! Our new Student Literary & Art Magazine (LAM) was just published, and it's full of wonderful poetry, sketches, and paintings created by our students. The student graphic design team even created the layout! Special thank you to our advertisers: Heron Hospitality, Chik-fil-A of New Bern, Murphy Matza Wealth Management, Emerson House Interiors, The Law Offices of Oliver & Cheek, and Rankin & Fiume Orthodontics. You can see a few pages of the magazine in this post. Congratulations to co-editors Paige Christman and Macey Coughlin and advertising director Bri Granish. Special thanks to our graphic designers and members of the advertising and writing committees. We'd also like to thank everyone who bravely shared their words, drawings, and paintings with all of us. We'll be publishing again next year so start working on your submissions now. If you'd like to join LAM, see Macey, Paige, or Mrs. Oliver. To our students: "This magazine is and always will be for you."

We're a little late posting these, but the Arts Department at Epiphany has been busy! The ArtWalk Pop Up display featuring work by our visual arts students was a huge success. Hundreds of visitors came to the Harrison Center to enjoy art created by all grades, K-12. Special thank you to Christ Church for allowing us to use their beautiful space. And thank you to all of our visual art teachers - Liss Corona, Jodi Tomboulian, and Julie Larick - for spending so much time preparing the displays. We are so grateful to have such creative, passionate, patient, caring teachers!

We had so much fun with Broadway star Thayne Jasperson - the only original castmember who remains in the award-winning musical "Hamilton." He's also starred in "Matilda," "Newsies," "High School Musical," and more! Here are some pictures of what our performing arts students were able to experience in Thayne's masterclass. Thank you, Mrs. Roussel, for making it all happen!

An evening under the stars with Mr. DeCamp and Mr. Willis: For this experience, you, your family, and up to two other families will journey out of town and away from the city lights to Jenkins Farm. We will begin the evening with food and fellowship around the fire and then as darkness settles, transition to a tour of the night sky using two Dobsonian Reflector telescopes. We will be observing Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, and major constellations. We will also discuss mythology from the past, present NASA missions, and where our future is headed. (to be used in October thru December of 2023 for best weather and viewing conditions) 2. Cookies and Storytime with Santa: You better watch out, you better not cry, better not pout, I'm telling you why - Santa Claus is coming to town! Santa will visit your home (December 2023) for cookies, cocoa, and a story read by Santa himself! 3. Movie Under the Stars with Mrs. Phelps: Enjoy a backyard movie with four of your friends (K-5) including popcorn, treats, and beverage. As the sun goes down we will get comfy on patio furniture and watch a fun (age-appropriate) movie while snacking on movie treats. (Date and time to be mutually agreed upon in the Fall of 2023) 4. Soccer lesson with Coach Carroll: You and one friend will enjoy a soccer lesson that will last for an hour and fifteen minutes minimum. The focus will be on dribbling and shooting. Lots of fun for those who are willing to learn ! (to be used before the end of June 2023) 5. An Evening at the Pool with Ms. Whitsett and Ms. Soreff: School is out June 2nd! Throw a two-hour end of the year (7-9 pm) private pool party for your child and 20 friends OR an entire grade level at the New Bern Country Club. This experience is offered to students in rising 3rd to rising 8th grades. We will provide simple food, water/lemonade and an ice cream bar along with music and games such as the coin dive, biggest splash contest, hula hoop, and limbo.
